Rhythm of Grace

Rhythm of Grace.

There’s a familiar pace, this rhythm of grace.

It’s not just a race we’re running.

Only time will tell as our hearts dwell

on the light that comes from something.

Each twist and turn relieves the yearn

of something more than this.

And soon we think we’ve lost our way

that we are sure we missed.

Every  bump in the road as the journey unfolds

breeds daunting new directions.

As day turns to night and cue the moonlight

gives space for our reflections.

As we lean in and listen it makes sense for a moment

that resolve only stares in our face,

but when  we seek the truth that this life isn’t proof,

but prevails in the rhythm of grace.

Recently I was asked to submit a poem for a new publication called Here Goes Anything by Lauren Peters and she gave me two words: rhythm and grace. I loved the idea of these two words playing together and loved the invitation to put my pen to paper even more. 2020 was a hard year and the promise of 2021 needed inspo.

We are on a journey and on this journey we can find exactly what we are looking for no matter what. The truth is that we are living in the rhythm of grace. It ebbs and flows and often hard stuff leads us to the good stuff, and when the good stuff makes us complacent, it can lead us back to the hard places. I believe in cycles, I believe sometimes we get caught up in things that we never meant to get ourselves caught up in. I know how to break the cycle, and I know truth and accountability are essential in finding our way out. I know the importance of self-care and surrendering and that there is hope for everyone and every situation.

2020 was a hard year and we learned so much. This year is no different.

So lean into the rhythm

and find the grace given

‘cause 2021 is the year for livin’!

Happy New Year!

Much love,

Alison
